Operation Hire A Vet Fact Sheet

Below are some frequently asked questions:

● Who is eligible for Ranchin’ Vets Operation Hire A Vet Program?

All veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces and have been honorably discharged across any branch are eligible to register. Our 501(c)(3) status allows us to provide a stipend to post 9/11 veterans who successfully register with our program and become hired by an agricultural employer. Ranchin’ Vets does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, gender or disability.

● Is there a cost to the veteran/agricultural employer to use Ranchin’ Vets services?

There is no cost to veterans or to any participating agricultural employers. As a nonprofit organization, our fundraising efforts allow us to cover the cost of the stipend that is issued to eligible participating veterans.

● Why does Ranchin’ Vets request a copy of veterans’ DD214?

As a Veteran Service Non Profit Organization, it is our due diligence to our donors, supporters, and stakeholders to verify military service and discharge status. Ranchin’ Vets requires an “Honorable” discharge status in order to participate in our Operation Hire A Vet Program. Ranchin’ Vets does not disseminate veterans’ private information to any potential employers, donors, or the general public.

● Does Ranchin’ Vets conduct a background check on veterans during the registration process?

Ranchin’ Vets does not conduct a background check or other screening procedures on veterans at any time. We do check references provided on the Veteran Registration Form, however, we do not pass those references along to the potential employer. Ranchin’ Vets encourages agricultural employers that we partner with to follow their own hiring procedures that they have in place.

● How much is the stipend provided to veterans?

Several factors are taken into consideration when determining the biweekly stipend amount. The stipend will be discussed with the veteran once the introduction has been facilitated with the agricultural employer, and will be finalized upon the veteran being hired.

● What is the Ranchin’ Vets Mentorship Program?

Ranchin’ Vets offers a Mentorship Program to veterans registered in Operation Hire A Vet as a way to provide educational resources to veterans transitioning out of the military. Veterans who choose to benefit from this program are paired with a fellow veteran on our board of directors who can provide information regarding veteran benefits available to them based on their own experiences.
