Operation Hire A Vet Fact Sheet
Below are some frequently asked questions:
● Is there a cost to the veteran/agricultural employer to use Ranchin’ Vets services?
There is no cost to veterans or to any participating agricultural employers. As a nonprofit organization, the fundraising that we do covers the cost of the stipend that is issued to eligible participating veterans. Serving Those Who Have Served Us, is at the heart of the work we do.
● Why does Ranchin’ Vets request a copy of veterans’ DD214?
As a Veteran Service Non Profit Organization, it is our due diligence to our donors, supporters, and stakeholders to verify military service. This is an effort to eliminate civilians falsely using the term “veteran” in order to receive benefits specifically designed for those who have served in the United States Military. Ranchin’ Vets does not disseminate veterans’ private information to any potential employers, donors, or the general public.
● Does Ranchin’ Vets conduct a background check on veterans during the registration process?
Ranchin’ Vets does not conduct a background check or other screening procedures on veterans at any time. We do check references provided on the Veteran Registration Form, however, we do not pass those references along to the potential employer. Ranchin’ Vets encourages agricultural employers that we partner with to follow their own hiring procedures that they have in place.
● How much is the stipend provided to veterans?
Several factors are taken into consideration when determining the biweekly stipend amount. The stipend will be discussed with the veteran once the introduction has been facilitated with the agricultural employer, and will be finalized upon the veteran being hired. Ranchin’ Vets does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, gender or disability.
● What is the Ranchin’ Vets Mentorship Program?
Ranchin’ Vets offers a Mentorship Program to veterans registered in Operation Hire A Vet as a way to provide educational resources to veterans transitioning out of the military. Veterans who choose to benefit from this program are paired with a fellow veteran on our board of directors who can provide information regarding veteran benefits available to them based on their own experiences.
